Foregone electoral conclusion cements Kaka's grip

As predicted here Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno 'Kaka' got 61% of the votes – the usual margin of victory his late father Idriss Déby Itno awarded himself – with rival candidates Succès Masra the prime minister and Albert Pahimi Padacké being assigned 19% and 17% respectively on a claimed turnout of 76% (AC Vol 65 No 6 Kaka paves a hard road to sham poll)...

The election did have one surprise however in the behaviour of Prime Minister Succès Masra the former opposition firebrand co-opted into the ruling circle...

Succès Masra by turning on Mahamat Idriss Déby 'Kaka' during the election campaign had forfeited his position and the new premier is Alla-Maye Halina a Mousseye/Banana from Mayo-Kebbi region who had been head of protocol at the presidency for 13 years before being appointed ambassador to China last year...

Most of the previous cabinet stayed on but those close to Succès Masra unsurprisingly were sacked...
