After the third, bloodiest, confrontation between the armies of Uganda and Rwanda on 5-10 June, Kisangani has now officially been demilitarised. The United Nations Special Representative in Congo-Kinshasa, Kamel Morjane, told reporters in Geneva recently that troops from the Armée Patriotique Rwandaise (APR) and the Ugandan People's Defence Force (UPDF) had left the city as earlier agreed, the Ugandans going north and north-east, the Rwandans south and south-east.
