Ibori's loot at stake

Southwark Crown Court witnessed a bizarre sight in late September when the former Governor of Delta State, James Onanefe Ibori, argued that property he had already admitted owning was not really his. The confiscation hearings follow the pledge by Judge Anthony Pitts to trace and return Ibori’s ill-gotten gains to the people of Delta State. Ibori has admitted to controlling £50 mn. in assets but is contesting the Crown’s assertion that he has at least £89 m. at his disposal.
