Shell and Eni win in Milan

Royal Dutch Shell and Italy's Eni and 13 individuals were acquitted by a Milan court in one of the world's biggest corruption cases on 17 March. After three years and 74 hearings over the $1.1 billion Nigerian OPL 245 case, presiding judge Marco Tremolada said in a 45-second statement that 'a crime was not committed'. It will be three months before the court provides a written judgment but we hear that Milan's deputy public prosecutor, Fabio de Pasquale, is planning to appeal against the ruling.
