Kampala bombings linked to Islamic State

Regional security services say they have uncovered training networks and a cash pipeline of hundreds of thousands of dollars to fighters affiliated with the group

The double suicide-bomb attack in Kampala on 16 November was the fourth terrorist explosion in Uganda in two months. Security services in the region are focused on what they see as a growing threat from jihadists claiming allegiance to so-called Islamic State (or Da'ish) throughout East Africa. Ugandan security officials, who say they have arrested over 100 terrorist suspects since June, are stepping up coordination with their counterparts in neighbouring Congo-Kinshasa.
