Blé Goudé's bad day

On 11 December, the International Criminal Court confirmed charges of murder, rape and other inhumane acts against Charles Blé Goudé, 42, a former Ivorian militia leader and Youth Minister under the then President Laurent Gbagbo. The trial date has yet to be set but a tussle is already under way over who should try Gbagbo's wife, Simone Ehivet Gbagbo: the ICC wants to bring her to the Hague and Abidjan wants to try her at home. Looming over the judicial proceedings is the question of even-handedness.
