Limits to corruption campaign

A new conflict of interest law forces some politicians to resign but Frelimo still dominates the economy

A series of high-profile resignations has followed the introduction of laws governing conflicts of interest and corruption but there is considerable uncertainty about how much further the governing Frente de Libertação de Moçambique will go in this campaign. The Lei de Probidade Pública (LPP, public probity law) stipulates tighter rules for those in public office. About 30 members of parliament, including senior members of Frelimo, have resigned their posts in the government or with state companies.
