Mediators put together another peace deal as presidential finances come under scrutiny

If President Laurent Gbagbo still worries about what people think of him, the row over the resignation of cocoa producers' leader Henri Amouzou has triggered some embarrassing revelations. The murky world of cocoa finance is already under scrutiny as French magistrate Patrick Ramaël investigates the disappearance of French-Canadian journalist Guy-André Kieffer (AC Vol 45 No 13). The brief period of optimism that followed the signing of a new peace agreement in Ghana on 30 July is fast being replaced by a more familiar gloom (AC Vol 45 No 15).
