After he made a host of startling coup plot accusations, some worry that President Thomas Yayi Boni may be displaying signs of paranoia. Since 2006, Benin has an enviable reputation for stability. So, when Yayi accused a former friend, wealthy businessman Patrice Talon, of trying to assassinate him, people sat up. Talon is in France but Yayi wants him extradited. He accused the cotton tycoon of trying to poison him with radioactive substances, plotting a commando attack and even planning to buy drones meant to crash into the presidential jet.
