The recent political calm conceals the contest for Moi's inheritance

A great campaign of historical revisionism has begun. Led by President Daniel arap Moi and his sons, it presents Moi as a caring statesman who did great things for his country during his 24-year rule, from 1978 until his (scheduled) retirement in 2002. The leading campaigners are Mark Too (a nominated Kenya African National Union member of parliament and Chairman of Lonrho Kenya), Gideon Moi (the President’s second-born son) and Joshua Chelego Kulei (the President’s close relative and personal assistant).
