Turning a corner

Kenya is euphoric again. After barely averting civil war following the 2007 elections, the approval of a new constitution by referendum marks a dramatic turn in the country’s political fortunes (AC Vol 51 No 16). The 27 August launch of the constitution, dubbed the ‘birth of the second republic’, is being hailed as the most important political milestone since Independence in 1963.
