Good-bye to Zimbabwe's dollar

'There will be no immediate plans to [re]introduce the money because there is nothing to support and hold its value,' said Economic Planning and Development Minister Elton Mangoma. In reality, the Zimbabwe dollar ceased to be a currency months ago, as its buying power shrank by 50% each day. By eliminating it, the government also hoped to eliminate illegal operators, such as the money changers who charge extortionate rates.
