The Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity, better known as the Unification Church and even better known as 'the Moonies', continues to court African leaders. The Church was founded in 1954 in Seoul, South Korea, by Reverend Sun Myung Moon. In December, it held meetings worldwide under the banner of the Interreligious and International Federation for World Peace (President, Chung Hwan Kwak), to support the 'Culture of Peace' in the United Nations millennial peace year.
