The opposition NDC will choose its flagbearer next week and the wrong choice could be fatal

Having lost two successive elections to President John Kufuor, former Vice-President John Evans Atta Mills is tipped to win the presidential nomination for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) at its conference on 21 December. Former Communications Minister Ekwow Spio-Garbrah hopes to give him a surprise. A former Director of the African Development Bank and Officer of the International Finance Corporation, Spio-Garbrah runs a slick campaign but complains that he lacks Atta Mills's funding.
