Khartoum's game

Despite energetic denials, Khartoum continues to help Kony and the LRA

In the early hours of 11 October, an Antonov flew over Western Equatoria, Southern Sudan, an unmistakable sound for civilians used to government bombing. Twice last month an unscheduled Antonov had passed over Yei, near the Congolese and Ugandan borders, where Uganda's Lord's Resistance Army rebels now lurk (AC Vol 46 No 20). Sudan People's Liberation Movement/Army commanders and United Nations' staff say this shows Khartoum's ongoing support of the LRA.
