Banana-skin vote

There's many a slip ahead, in the referendum and its constitutional consequences

Kenyan voters will be asked to vote 'Yes' (a banana symbol) or 'No' (an orange) on 21 November, in a referendum on ratification of the proposed new constitution. The Chairman of the National Electoral Commission, Samuel Kivuitu, explained the choice before the people but the ruling coalition is divided on the answer. President Mwai Kibaki's National Alliance of Kenya (NAK), is for bananas; Public Works Minister Raila Odinga's Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) prefers oranges.
