After the fight, Frelimo runs out of ideas

President Daniel Chapo and challenger Venâncio Mondlane sign an accord but have no political plan in sight

By releasing 4,800 political prisoners and calling off the riot police, Frelimo has admitted defeat, but it can’t negotiate a national unity government. After six months of post-electoral unrest, Mozambique’s President Daniel Chapo of the ruling Frente de Libertação de Moçambique (Frelimo) party, has finally struck a deal with his main opponent, independent Venâncio Mondlane.
