Mahamat Kaka is caught between Khartoum’s anger and Emirati cash

Commissioned by the UAE to ship arms to the RSF militia in Darfur, Ndjamena is threatened by its eastern neighbour

After expelling the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) from Khartoum in late March, the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) commander General Abdel Fattah al Burhan is now focusing on the militia’s presence in Darfur and its principal supporters: Chad’s President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno ‘Kaka’ and United Arab Emirates President Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahayan (MBZ).
