A US aid agency and President Akufo-Addo’s government are clashing over a plan to reform the state power company

The government's cancellation of a contract with a business consortium to manage the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has put it at odds with the United States government and cost it US$190 million in aid money. The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), a US government agency which allocated funds for the project, says the consortium had done nothing wrong and urged the Ghana government to reinstate the contract or lose the aid money.
