A new investigation says those responsible for the Solai dam disaster could escape prosecution
Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Mohamed Haj has charged the manager and owner of the Nakuru County farm on which the Milmet Solai dam collapsed, causing dozens of deaths and sweeping away houses, churches, and crops. Along with the General Manager of Patel Coffee Estates, Vinod Jaya Kumar, and the owner, Perry Mansukhlal Kansagra, who said torrential rains and deforestation on neighbouring farms were to blame, the DPP has also indicted seven government and county officials from Nakuru's Water Resources Management Authority (WARMA), the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA), and local government.
