Run-off wrangle

For the first time since the country's democratic transition in 1991, the losers of an election have claimed the vote was rigged and refuse to recognise the official results. The sitting President, Manuel Pinto da Costa, who came second in the 17 July poll, says he will not legitimise a corrupt process by participating in the run-off slated for 7 August.
