Signing bonus

Kenya is urging its East African Community counterparts to return to the table in a bid to rescue the EAC's proposed Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) with the European Union. Tanzania walked away from ratifying the pact on 9 July, citing the United Kingdom's vote to leave the EU. A formal signing was due on 18 July, but Uganda backed Tanzania, Burundi held off because the EU has suspended budget support over its political crisis and Rwanda appeared indifferent.
