A fresh military revolt could add to Côte d'Ivoire's woes. President Laurent Gbagbo's Bété andallied ethnic groups (Agni, Atié, Dida and Guéré) now dominate the security apparatus, which operates outside the official chain of command, leaving Army Chief of Staff General Mathias Doué and ground forces commander Gen. Denis Bombet with limited real power.
