Massacre? Moi?

January saw the birth of a new party – Forces patriotiques pour la démocratie et le développement (FPDD). The similarity to the name the last military junta gave itself, the Conseil national pour la démocratie et le développement (CNDD), was not accidental. The FPDD's leader is Captain Moussa Dadis Camara, who from December 2008 to December 2009 led a regime best-known for the massacre of 157 people in the main Conakry stadium on 28 September, 2009. Camara, who has been in exile in Burkina Faso, says he is not responsible for the atrocity; most Guineans differ.
