Seoul says no to youth export

South Korea ends speculation on the matter and begins to investigate Yoon Choong-sup, the man behind the plan

South Korea is adamant that it did not and will not authorise the arrival of some 100,000 young Malawian workers, as announced by President Joyce Banda and her People’s Party government in March. The Seoul government is now investigating businessman Yoon Choong-sup for his role in the fiasco. Yoon, Chief Executive of Kobelle, a medium-sized company based in Seoul, played a key role in facilitating meetings between Malawian Labour Minister Eunice Makangala and local magistrate Kim Chul-ju, of Muan County in South Jeolla Province, during Banda’s visit to Seoul in January.
