All previous calculations have been upset by the late President Michael Sata's widow, Christine Kaseba-Sata, announcing on 19 November that she will seek the Patriotic Front's nomination in the 20 January presidential election. Political pundits in Lusaka see her move as part of Acting President Guy Scott's attempt to keep alive the PF's radical hue and Sata's legacy. This faction, which is also led by former Justice Minister and PF Secretary General Wynter Kabimba, Sata's Spokesman George Chellah and The Post publisher Fred Mmembe, is a minority in the party but thrived as long as Sata lived.
