Mystery militias

Two conflicts persist in Sierra Leone, weakening the authority of President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah (elected in March 1996) and undermining the United Nations' appeal for funds for national reconstruction. There is skirmishing, mainly in the south, between the Sierra Leone Army (SLA) and the Kamajors, or traditional hunters. And the SLA has fought several battles with Corporal Foday Sankoh's Revolutionary United Front (RUF).
