Jollies and jets

Arguments over the financing of a presidential jet are to set the terms for a wider debate about corruption in the run-up to December's national elections. In the 2000 presidential elections, the row over how former military leader Flight Lieutenant Jerry Rawlings raised US$16 million for a 14-seat Gulfstream G11 jet may have cost Rawling's National Democratic Congress (NDC) the election. Now the NDC hope they can turn the jet saga against incumbent President John Kufuor's New Patriotic Party (NPP). They will have to unravel the facts about the financing of the jet.
