The new grand industrial strategy is the most important economic initiative since GEAR

After many years of debate among politicians, business and unions, the draft of a grand industrial strategy for South Africa has emerged in time for the party conference in December. Generally, it pleases all three partners, who want more jobs, more profits and more action to deal with the consumer and capital goods streaming in from China and India. This month, China launches a sales drive with South Africa's biggest vehicle retailer for its cars and four-wheel-drive vehicles, the world's cheapest.
