Bedding down

President Paul Kagame claimed more than 95 per cent of the presidential poll in July, so it was hardly surprising that the coalition led by his Front Patriotique Rwandais (FPR) swept the board at the parliamentary election on 30 September. The FPR and its four allies (Parti Démocratique Indépendant, Parti pour l'Unité, le Progrès et la Démocratie, Parti Socialiste Rwandais and Parti Démocrate Centriste) notched up 73.78 per cent of the vote although nobody really believed the official claim of a 99.48 per cent turn-out.
