Who's in charge here?

A sick president, a one-day government, a broken economy. What next?

Nobody seems to be in charge of Guinea. The authority of the state and the economy of the world's second largest bauxite producer (after Australia) have steadily dwindled since President Lansana Conté officially announced he was ill in 2003. This process received impetus when he was flown to Geneva, Switzerland, during the night of 17 March in a private aeroplane rented by his friend, businessman Guido Santullo.
