Politicians blame bureaucrats, bureaucrats blame politicians. That's democracy
Confusion and recriminations followed the voter registration process for December's presidential and parliamentary elections, which took place over two weeks last month. Many voters blame the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for failing to give the Electoral Commission the necessary funds for photo-identification of all voters. The Commission had fewer than 2,000 cameras, for an estimated 9.8 million voters at 21,000 polling centres, and is asking most voters to come back in two months to have their pictures taken and cards issued. These delays could disenfranchise some 100,000 people. So could the election dates.
