Nigeria's elections were pulled back from the brink of collapse on 16 April when leading opposition candidate Muhammadu Buhari insisted he would not join a boycott of presidential polls due on 19 April despite claims of massive fraud by supporters of incumbent President Olusegun Obasanjo in legislative elections on 12 April. Buhari said his All Nigeria People's Party (ANPP) would challenge all results where there was evidence of rigging by Obasanjo's People's Democratic Party (PDP).
