Libya

A cure that could kill

The West wants a government that can invite it in to attack ISIS. But any government that does so could disintegrate and leave something worse

Foreign interests, led by the United States and France, favour military intervention in Libya to curb the expansion of 'Islamic State' (IS/ISIS/Da'ish). The Islamist militia's attacks in Paris on 13 November changed Europe's and the USA's view of Libya and the Da'ish threat there, and the climate is now strongly in favour of military intervention. In Iraq and Syria, US military tactics are now set on preventing IS from relocating its headquarters to the territory of its affiliates in Libya.
